Our story begins with a dog named Quixote

CRU was founded in late 2017 in Barcelona, but it all actually began long before that, with Quijote, a French bulldog with allergies, digestive issues, and a lack of enthusiasm for food. Like many other families, Sandra, our founder, hadn't considered that what her dog ate could be directly related to his health. Until she started observing, researching, and asking questions.

After countless visits to the vet, treatments, and frustrations, Sandra discovered the world of natural raw food. And what happened was almost miraculous: within a few weeks, Quijote regained his energy, left his allergies behind, and began to enjoy life again. That change transformed everything.

Sandra decided to train in dog and cat nutrition, and what began as a homemade solution ended up becoming a professional project with a real impact. Once she had the knowledge to design 100% balanced menus for Quijote, she realized something important: no matter how much she wanted to feed her furry friend well, the daily grind of work, running, shopping, and taking the kids to school made it nearly impossible to prepare food from scratch. That was a barrier many families couldn't overcome. Thus, CRU was born, offering a real, healthy, practical alternative adapted to today's pace of life, without compromising on what's most important: the health and well-being of our furry companions.

Quixote crossed the rainbow in October 2023, but his legacy lives on in every menu, every guide, and every lifestyle change we promote. Always in our hearts, little Quijo.

Our values and what CRU stands for

At CRU, we believe that good nutrition is the greatest gesture of love . That's why we work with 100% natural, non-ultraprocessed ingredients and a rigorous selection of suppliers who share our values. We only work with natural products and companies that work for a better world . We love animals as part of our family, and that's why we strive for a food model that respects their biology and health. We also believe in transparency: in saying what we do and doing what we say. No magic formulas, no hidden ingredients.

Our name is much more than a word. CRU stands for “raw,” but it’s also an acronym for Conscious Raw Universe , because we believe in a conscious universe, where the choices we make, like what we feed our dogs and cats, have an impact.

Since 2020, we've reduced the use of Styrofoam in our shipments by almost 50% and are continuously working to make our processes more sustainable.
