It's Halloween, and you'll be seeing pumpkins everywhere! To celebrate, we suggest some homemade cookies with lots of love for your furry friend. At CRU, we believe the best diet for our dogs and cats is a BARF (raw food) diet, excluding grains from their daily diet. Still, every day is every day, and it's perfectly fine to give your four-legged friend some oatmeal.

Halloween Dog Cookie Recipe
(for 30 thick cookies in our molds, you can reduce the quantity by half to make fewer)
Ingredients
-
2 M/L size eggs (and yes, dogs can eat eggs )
-
250 g pumpkin puree
-
350 g organic wholegrain oats
-
1 tablespoon unsweetened peanut butter
Preparation
-
Grind the oat flakes. It doesn't have to be a fine flour; it's fine to have some whole flakes left.
-
Cook the pumpkin. We microwaved it, but you can also bake it in the oven or cook it in a pot. Drain it well to remove excess water. Mash it, then mash it with a food mill or mash it with a fork to form a puree.
-
Mix the pumpkin puree with the eggs.

We have a small mixer, but you can easily do it with a spatula, a pastry scraper, or just your bare hands.

-
Preheat the oven to 180º.
-
Add the oat flour little by little and the peanut butter until you get a homogeneous dough.
-
Fill the molds; if you don't have cookie cutters, you can roll the dough between two sheets of baking paper and cut them into the shape you prefer.
-
Bake at 180º for about 15-20 minutes.
-
Let it rest on a wire rack and cool completely before giving it to your furry friend!
How to store homemade dog biscuits?
Once cooled, the best way to store them is in a tin or glass jar. You can also place them in a zip-lock bag and store them in the refrigerator. These cookies are also perfect for cats, although we can't guarantee success with them, as they may be more particular about their tastes.

Dog biscuits: a one-time treat or a regular treat?
Although these homemade cookies are a lovely way to share special moments with your furry friend, remember that ideally, you should follow a diet that respects their carnivorous nature. At CRU, we promote a raw, biologically appropriate diet rich in animal protein and free of grains and ultra-processed foods.
If you want to reward them more often, we recommend opting for natural snacks that align with their health and biological heritage . They don't just love them, they're also good for them.
